Rock Chick

Rock Chick - Kristen Ashley PJV Quickie: Another fabulous read by Kristen Ashley! Great first book in a series – I want to read more about these characters and/or move in next door!Indy Savage is a bookstore owner, cops’ daughter, and lover of all things rock-n-roll. Her mother died when she was young, and she grew up spending as much time at her BFF Ally’s house as much as her own. Indy has been in love with one of Ally’s brothers, Lee, since she was five years old. Lee has always viewed her as more of a little sister, and 10 years ago when she threw herself at him, he politely but firmly turned her down. Completely mortified, Indy’s spent the last 10 years avoiding Lee, which is hard to do since she sees him all the damn time at family functions.Lee Nightingale was the kind of kid who broke girls’ hearts and made his mother wonder if she was going to survive his teenage years. He surprised everyone by growing up and starting a successful security/private detective business, employing a bunch of hot badass men and making Denver a safer place to live. He’s always had his eye on Indy, but she was too young, and now that age doesn’t matter, she’s been avoiding him for the last 10 years!!Now, one of Indy’s employees is in trouble, and when he turns to her for help, Lee gets involved. As Indy tries to help, she stumbles into some crazy situations and fights with Lee the whole way.I have been on a Kristen Ashley binge for about two months now – Rock Chick is my 10th Kristen Ashley book and I wasn’t sure what to expect from this series. If book 1 is any indication, I’m going to love this series as much as her others! Rock Chick is a little less intense than her other series – less sexually explicit, a little lighter, funnier… there were definitely several laugh out loud moments while reading Rock Chick. And that’s why I think I’m going to love this series- the secondary characters were hilarious! From the hermit-like Vietnam Vet/cat-sitter Tex and her hilarious drag-queen neighbors and their awesome dog Chowlina, to their families trying desperately to play matchmaker, and the hot men working for Lee, whom I’m thinking we will meet in later stories – there are so many interesting characters that I want to know MORE!!Rock Chick has fun, action, romance, and even some sweetness – it was a great way to spend my “me time” after the kids went to bed in the evenings. Now, there are a few editing issues (some spelling and punctuation errors) but not too many, and honestly I was having so much fun reading that I didn’t really mind.If you’re looking for a funny, sexy read with nonstop action, hot cops and a heroine who finds trouble wherever she goes, look no further than Rock Chick!
