A Promise of Fire by Amanda Bouchet
I loved this! Great fantasy world-building and solid characters. Reminded me of Ilona Andrews' Kate Daniels series - no shapeshifters or vampires but the same feel to the writing and the banter between the H/h was reminiscent of Kate/Curran. Can't wait for the next book.
